Who We Are Westside Market Hall is a development of the Reiss-Paris Joint Venture whose members are David Reiss and David Paris. The Architectural design is by Glen Bell of Dex Design Studio in Venice, California.
Reiss-Paris Joint Venture Projects (with Glen Bell)
In the last ten years Reiss and Paris have together developed four high-quality and highly successful restaurants and bars, the last three of which have been designed by Glen Bell. Reiss-Paris Venture projects include:
Alibi Room, 12236 W. Washington Blvd., Culver City [link]
Located across the street and one block east of Westside Market Hall, this former neighborhood bar and restaurant was reopened in September of 2007 the after a dramatic remodel designed by Glen Bell.
Beechwood Restaurant, 822 Washington Blvd., Venice [link]
This 4,900 sf restaurant and bar opened in 2005. Beechwood was Reiss' first design collaboration with Glen Bell who created a uniquely sophisticated environment. Details such as the custom designed furniture, stunning material selection and seemless indoor/outdoor flow has created a soothing yet electric atmosphere that has made Beechwood a landmark destination for the area. Both the restaurant and the bar menu by acclaimed chefs Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts were noted when Los Angeles Time Magazine honored Beechwood as Best New Restaurant of 2005.
The Del, 119 Culver Blvd., Playa del Rey [Link]
The former La Marina Restaurant, this local landmark was badly in need of an update. With a new ownership team led by David Reiss and Glen Bell's design sensibility, this sprawling 8,500 sf facility has been re-envisioned as The Del. A popular lounge area and a 220-seat full restaurant opened in 2007. An outdoor dining patio will follow soon.
The Brig, 1515 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice [Link]
After fifty years of ownership by the family of local boxing legend Babe Brandelli, The Brig bar and real estate was sold to Paris West Companies in 1997. In redeveloping the 10,000 sf mixed-use parcel, Paris brought in David Reiss to lease and operate The Brig bar operation. The stunning 1999 remodel of The Brig by JFAK Architects earned design awards and acclaim from Interior Design Magazine, I.D. Magazine, The New York Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Wallpaper and G.Q. Magazine. The historic mural painted on the side of the building was retouched by the original artist after the original wall surface was stabilized by art restoration professionals. The project also features landscaping by acclaimed Venice landscaper Jay Griffith.
